I was delivering the good news. Now I feel sorry for myself. What do I do now?

What was your message
by A Paduan in.
when going door to door were you delivering good news (without an if) like, "your landlord has given you the house"or were you selling 'love' like, "if you do as we do then you will be loved"or were you pretending to be normal but giving the underlying warning about the imaginary beast-god - who was perhaps going to get yourself.. paduan

No, It was a wholesale outfit. They were based in Pine City, Mn and had distributors all over. Distributers would have a sales route of customers, bars, convenience stores, etc. Pioneers, exC.O's... They would sales meetings; felt like a circuit assembly because of all the JWs you'd run into.

This letter makes me want to barf!!!! Can anyone confirm it is legit? No offense, messenger, but this is very important to some of us. How long will they continue their head-in-the-sand strategy?
"Were Jehovahs Witnesses to immerse themselves in refuting all false charges made against them, they could also fall into a trap of the great accuser Satan the Devil
what about the the charges that aren't false? hmm?
Therefore we will ignore the lying misrepresentation by opposers as we are assured by Jehovah that we are walking well.
another gem. Since they are all lies, we will ignore them. And how exactly are "we" assured of anything?
Every time I think maybe they are acquiring a clue, they spout out more nonsense like this.

4th Generation Witnesses and Maybe more ?
by out4good3 injust read a thread about a guy being a forth generation witness and a question came to mind.
how is it that jw's can rationalize the end being always "just around the corner" when there is soon to be 4th, 5th, and maybe 6th generation witnesses?
just how is it that the previous generations can continue to follow so blindly after one failed prediction after another of never getting old in this "system of things"?.

You have raised some good points. Here is a religion whose main idea is that "the end is near, we are in the last days" then after a date like 1975, some leave the organization, they will say, "well, they were just serving a date" Of course they were, that was the whole point of the religion in the first place!!
acting as if the beliefs they held yesterday never happened
That is so true, not just the fact that the belief has changed, but somehow convincing the followers there was no change. Straight out of Orwell's 1984. "We have always believed this way. We never said college was bad. We said that 1914 would mark Jesus presence, and the beginning of the end. Vaccines, did we say vaccines were bad? Homosexuality not grounds for divorce, when was that? We have for many years encouraged victims of child abuse to report such abuse to the proper authorities."

Wednesday,
I know almost exactly how you are feeling, in a state of flux, not knowing where to go next, waiting to be 'outed' and possibly DF'd. So just hang in there. Don't give them any rope, and there will be little they can do. My wife is very suspicious, and if she found out I am on this board, I have no doubt she would run screaming to the elders.
Some people can keep up a charade for years, going to meetings, out in service, etc. I can't. I won't.
I have better things to do with my life.

Oh No, Not Again!
by Sentinel inlast night, around 8:30 (sat., 10/19), it appears the serial snipers struck again.. if you travel south on down route 95, past spotsylvania, where two shootings took place, you come to a small town called ashland, va. there is a pondersoa steak house right off the highway.
a 37 year old man was walking out with his female companion, and he was hit by a single bullet to the abdomen.
they closed off route 95 entirely.

Francois, my point should have been obvious. You were going on and on about immigrants and how terrorists are entering the U.S. and what a threat these immigrants are and how its all the Democrats fault. What you seem to overlook is the fact that guys like McVeigh and Kaczinski, two of the worst terrorists this counttry has ever seen, are born-in-the-USA citizens.
I get real tired of listening to people who blame all the problems in the U.S. on immigration. Yes there are people here illegally, yes some of them are criminals, yes some of them abuse welfare. There might even be a few terrorists who slip in. So what? There are thousands of people in each of those categories born here. Should we kick them out? (Oops, can't do that.) But lumping all immigrants together or closing the borders off is not a solution.

Ewanchuk v. Ewanchuk: JW grandparents' rights case
by expatbrit inearlier this month, the supreme court of the northwest territories rendered judgement on this case, involving grandparents rights of access to their grandchildren and their right to expose the grandchildren to their religion.
practising jehovahs witnesses.. tracy ewanchuk (respondent): the mother of asia and alecsa.
a second is that he views their exposure to his religious practices as something that is healthy for them.

Scully:
I guess when the grandparents are JWs, they are incapable of tearing families and children apart'', whereas if the parents are JWs and the grandparents are not, it becomes "very damaging and increase[s] the damage to children".
The other feature I want to discuss is the rights of access for both parents and the right of both access parent and custodial parent to have free interchange of information and to teach the child what he believes as well as what the custodial parent believes. This is all part of family life. Lots of people disagree on many things. Children are entitled to know that and to know the access parent as well as the custodial parent as a person.
Pretty language there, Mr. How. But what about when the grandparents want to shove what THEY believe down the grandchildren's throats against the wishes of the custodial parent??
Can you give any example where Mr. How is trying to defend some kind of double standard based on whether the grandparents are JWs or not? I sure don't see it in the quotes you listed? I don't think taking kids to a church or a Kingdom Hall once or twice a year qualifies as 'shoving it down their throats.'
I detect just a faint hint of bias from the posters on this thread. Try this: If the grandparents were Catholic, and the daughter-in-law was a JW, how would you feel about this case?
and then this.
Hawk:
The roof project didn't work out the way we hoped. Damn.
Love, Scully
No problem.
I gotta few ideas.

what's with the coded messages? What's a roof project, and why should I care to read about it?
Let the flaming begin!
